  13. I am  having problems with a brand new U.S. Robotics Sportster 28.8  and 
  14. Windows 95Æs dial-up networking.  After connecting and surfing
  15. the net for a 
  16. short while it disconnects.

  19. External Sportster modem 28.8 
  20. 486/66 8MB
  21. 16550 Serial ports with FIFO enabled via Windows 95
  22. Modem installed with new INF file from USR
  23. Modem firmware dates are EPROM 10/18/95

  28. I think the ISP is using AT&T Comsphere modems

  30. System works perfectly with the previous modem an AT&T Dataport 14.4.

  32. HereÆs the results from the Sportster ATI6 command using the tip
  33. from John 
  34. Navas' FAQ to get the results in Windows 95 Dial-up networking.
  35. One clarification on John's tip - when you get the "Reconnection Message"
  36. leave it on your screen and run Hyperterminal to get the ATI6 results.

  65. My test consists of entering the following into NetscapeÆs URL line

  69. If the file (900KB+) downloads okay, I consider the system working okay.
  70. Here's the results of some of my testing.  Using the PPPLOG.TXT and 
  71. MODEMLOG.TXT files to verify certain items.

  101. Also Compuserve WINCIM 2.01 using local access number (513) 224-4576 and 
  102. default settings will disconnect on file downloads.  Going into WINCIM's
  103. settings and clicking off "Error Control" and "Compression" permits me
  104. to stay connect.

  106. Any help to get this Sportster performing at top speed would be
  107. appreciated.
